Art of Social Justice Teaching

Between 2007 and 2014, SSE supported the staff at June Jordan School for Equity to develop a pedagogical framework for classroom practice which came to be known as “The Art of Social Justice Teaching.” Unlike some other attempts to describe good teaching, this framework was developed through a bottom-up, inquiry based process of teachers and students seeing what worked and then describing it. These written descriptions were accompanied with video of actual teachers in real classrooms, with all of the accompanying complexity and challenge.
